As part of the Plimmerton School’s water awareness programme, Hongoeka Syndicate will be participating in a kayak and rock climbing session, which is run through Fergs Kayak on the waterfront in Wellington.

We will visit over three different days to cater for our large syndicate. Children will further develop their understanding of water safety, as well as learn some basic kayaking and rock climbing skills.

We will be traveling by train to/from Plimmerton Station and then be walking to/from Wellington station, along the waterfront to/from Fergs Kayaks.  We will have lunch at Frank Kitts Park before returning to school.

Please be aware that purchasing food for children from the shops will not be permitted.

Students will need to have a packed lunch, sunscreen, pōtae (hat), togs, rash shirt, towel, sensible walking shoes (suitable for climbing), jumper and a light jacket in case of rain.

The cost of the trip will be $50, which includes the cost of the rock climbing, kayak and the train.

Each class will need parent/caregiver help, and you may be asked to help with belaying the rock climbers and supervising during the kayaking session. Please note down on the permission slip below if you are able to assist with your child’s class, and the teacher will get in touch with you to confirm whether or not you are needed.

Wednesday 4th November - Room 20 and Room 22
Thursday 5th November -  Room 21 and Room 23
Friday 6th November -  Room 19

Timetable:
9:15am - Depart school
9:32am -  Board train for Wellington.
10:05am - Arrive Wellington and depart for Fergs
10:20 - Kayak and rock climbing sessions start
11:20 - Swap kayak and rock climbing groups
12:20 - Kayaking and rock climbing sessions end
12:40 - Lunch at Frank Kitts Park
1:33 - Depart Wellington Station
2:03 - Arrive Plimmerton Station.
2:20 - Return to school
